awaiting ATPL

wow...almost forgot that i had a xanga site....let see..things that happened between my last post...that would be alot haha...after doing my first solo..i went on to do another 70 or so solo hours and getting a Hong Kong commercial pilots license and a Multi engine Command Instrument Rating.  In that time...gone thru alot....had a lot of good memories and a few stressful time as well...but i can say that i learned alot this last year and everything has been a worthy experience.

Right now I've had the last 10 days off..and going to have another 6 days before ATPLs start..just waiting for the rest of the course to finish the Mod 6.  The graduation date has been set for Oct 22..which is almost a month off the orginal date...i'm not too bothered by it tho...i can last another month here..i feel sry for some of the CAL ppl..staying here for an extra 1/2 year..and who can forget the VN courses that stay here for almost 2 years!

so anyways..i'm really looking forward to ATPLs cuz i just want to get everything done so i can get out of here....i cant' wait till i leave FTA

first solo

at 8:40 this morning..i completed module 1 of my training...i completed my first solo!  basically all i had to do was fly 1 circuit by myself hehe...total of about 4 mins in the air....but to me..its a pretty big achievement cuz know i know that i can actually fly and land the plane without killing myself hehe

really..i felt soooo relieved after cuz i've been stressing about going solo for awhile now...not cuz i'm scared that i can't do it..just that i tried going solo for the last 2 flights but my instructor wouldn't send me cuz well, i didn't fly that well...i wasn't having consistent approaches and landings and my confidence was really low..but after today..i feel that i can do it everytime now...can't wait to fly again now

about the actual flight now...TGT was the plane i flew today..i was so excited when i did my ready call..as the plane was lifting off i was thinking..this is it...its up to myself to bring me safely back on the ground again....i just did everything as if my instructor was still there and i actually flew the circuit really well...the only part i kinda stuffed up was when i was about 2 feet from the ground and the plane kinda yawed to the right and i landed wayyyy off center...but o well...i'm still walking..and the plane is still serviceable..so it was a great landing

tonite, celebrated my first solo with a very nice mexican meal in north adelaide..thanks Mel..rememeber to take me to eat mexican food in taiwan..along with all the other restaurant and food we were talking about haha

so anyway...today October 18th, 2007...the day of my first solo...i will definitely remember

My Bday, BAC 3 and delays

Last week was my bday...after going out for a nice dinner in town and being thrown in the pool...my good frd from CAL and I decided that its time to challenge the shot list at Isobar.  10 shots, + however many others bought me = dead chris

haha...i had an amazing night and an awesome birthday tho..thx everyone

As for my flying...BAC 3 went ok...it was only a 1.0 flight but it felt much longer..maybe cuz i was in control for most of the time...anyway..i'm feeling more and more comfortable with the airplane..just can't wait till i can learn circuits and eventually go solo.

as far as my flying is going...its going good when i can actually fly..i'm falling a little behind from my coursemate cuz i'm only able to fly once a day on the flying days and my flights have been cancelled a couple of times.  Others are usually doing 2 flights a day...i'll talk to my instructor and hopefully he will be able to fly with me more often next week

BAC 1 & 2

This week i had my first 2 flights here at FTA.  Had perfect weather on weds for BAC 1...minimal wind and 10 km visibility..perfect for learning how to attitude fly.  Had a great time up there, wasn't too busy in the air but it just felt good to be up there.

Today the weather wasn't as good.  A bit of turbulence out in the training area and a pretty heavy haze which made seeing the horizon a bit harder.  But still I think i had a pretty good flight.  Getting used to the prestart, run-up checks and radio calls and stuff.

Parafield Tower, Tango Golf Tango, Grob, ready runway 21 right for training area. Dual.  Recieved Bravo.

haha....so fun. It just got a little busy during circuit entry and i didn't know what to say for the downwind call so my instructor did it for me.  I'll make sure i do better next time.  Overall, the first 2 flights were good.  I know I still need a little work on controlling the rudder but I'm sure i can do it in the next couple flights.

Hope I can fly solo soon.

bad weather

for the whole month that i've been here we've had nothing but great flying weather.  But today, when we are suppose to have our first flight, low cloud base at 2600 broken at 1000.  Strong gusting winds at 17 kts with showers.  Delayed on the first day..this is a good start.
